I would say it is a brilliant movie and i do believe Malaysian movie producers should do the same. I did find for the trailer and it seems so interesting so I decided to give it a shot. Until I heard the news of “Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wijck” movie, i had no idea about it, the story about it, or even that eventually it is a movie based on a novel written by Buya Hamka, not to be mistaken as another version of TItanic.
But then, I am able to enjoy them despise it is written in old Malay/Indo and Minang languages. I did read most of his novel, even though the language is quite hard to understand. And because my grandfather is also a Minang descendant, he quite know him well. I started to know him when we are learning Islamic Studies in school, it lead me to know him and his writing too, not much i know more than he was a good Muslim and he wrote a book, nothing personal, but i know he was a good writer at that time. So, yesterday i decided to watch Indonesian movie “Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wijck” an adapted movie from the same novel title by Buya Hamka, the well known muslim scholar in this region.įirst of all i adore Haji Abdul Malik Karim Amrullah aka Buya Hamka as he able to produce such a great masterpiece. The word ‘choice’ then becomes very important since she cannot take what she has given back because her condition before and after marriage is different.Well, for my holiday I did make a list of to watch movie to spend my days. Both works explore women’s problem when their husbands are not as success as their previous boyfriends. They agreed to choose the different men to be their husbands because of the success they see at the time. The Great Gatsby and Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wijck are the literary works that propose the idea of women’s choice in marriage. She will lose her pride when she decides to be a widow by divorce. In some parts of the world, there is a belief related to the culture that when a woman gets married, she has to set her life as a house wife with high integrity since it is her dignity. When all those things gone, it is a condition in which a wife must show her integrity and faith to her husband. Having a handsome, well-known and prosperous husband, is a part of women’s esteem. A woman must be sure that the groom she has chosen is the right man for her entirely life, and she must be ready for the consequence of her choice for the rest of her life.
Marriage is a very important step in women’s life.
